Antitrust says improved Booking.com still must pay 1.3 bln rbl fine

MOSCOW, Dec 15 (PRIME) -- Dutch company Booking.com must pay a 1.3 billion ruble fine when the court decision takes effect despite cancellation of price parity, an authority spokesperson told PRIME on Wednesday.

“The Moscow Arbitration Court kept in force the ruling of the Federal Antimonopoly Service on the administrative offense by company Booking and confirmed the fine of 1.3 billion rubles,” the spokesperson said.

Booking.com fulfilled on Wednesday the requirement of the antitrust watchdog on termination of price parity and now hotels can set lower prices for their services.

Under price parity, hotels and other places of residence are obliged to maintain the same prices and information about the rooms as they are provided to aggregator Booking.com in all the sales channels.
